About the community
We are Luhya people — from the villages of western Kenya — now living and raising families in Queensland.
Our story
The association was formed so that arriving families find a ready network, and so our language, food and ceremony continue here. Members meet on the first Saturday of each month, in person around Brisbane and online for those further afield.
Our mission
To unite Luhya people in Queensland, support one another in hardship and celebration, and pass our culture on to children growing up far from home.
